Corner Round Feature
With our unique corner-round feature we have been able to reduce the problems of wet end erosion on a sleeve. We overlay our KPM SuperSleeve right to the end face of the sleeve thus providing unparalled protection by effectively encapsulating it.
Coating Coverage
A KPM SuperSleeve has full coating coverage on the contact surfaces, from one edge to the other. This assists in preventing a starting point for the undercutting problems found with standard sleeves. Typically you will find that standard construction sleeves are not coated at their ends.
Bond Strength
When investigating the reasons why a sleeve tends to delaminate, the lack of adequate bond strength is a very important factor. Thermal shock caused by a loss of gland water can cause cracking and sudden failure of less durable overlays. For example, typical bond strengths range from 6,500 to 7,500 psi on standard sleeves, wheras our KPM SuperSleeve overlay has a bond strength of 65,000 psi. With 10 times the bond strength there is much more resistance to delamination from thermal shock.
Hardness
Coating hardness of a KPM SuperSleeve ranges from 60RC to 75RC depending upon the application.
Benefits
- fewer sleeve replacements
- less packing consumption
- major cost savings in maintenance & downtime of pumps and agitators
- more predictable maintenance scheduling for critical equipment applications
- 5 - 8 times the life expectancy of standard sleeves in highly abrasive applications
- match regular service cycles of pumps and agitators with chageouts of shaft sleeves
- not damaged by overheating by temporary loss of gland water or overtightening of packing
- compatible with "waterless" packing & RSGF stuffing box designs for major reductions in flush water costs
